Welcome Sajjad!!
Pendle Conservatives have had some truly excellent news today, locally-based MEP Sajjad Karim has announced he is joining us from the Liberal Democrats. I first met Saj two years ago, and have always been of the opinion that he is a very hard working, honest and decent man. From my own perspective, Saj will strengthen our team here in Pendle, and will continue to be a very strong voice for both Pendle and the North West in the European Parliament. We now have a highly dedicated team working for the betterment of our area, Den Dover MEP, Sajjad Karim MEP and our prospective Conservative MP, Andrew Stephenson. Pendle’s future is looking better and brighter than it has done for a long time.

My First Governor’s Meeting
I attended my first meeting as a Governor of Marsden Heights Community College on 19th November. This proved to be a very rewarding experience for me, as it gives me the opportunity to play my part in bringing a new and exciting learning experience for our young people. Marsden Heights has a vital role to play in the future of our community, the key stage of course being the building of the new college, an exciting £20 million project, which will provide a superb educational base for the skilled workers and entrepreneurs we need to secure our future. I would like to take this opportunity to express my support and thanks for the work Mr. Tull and his highly dedicated team are putting in to maintain the highest possible standards during the period of transition before the move to the new college. In addition, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow governors for the very warm and positive welcome I have received upon joining the board.

More Success in Getting Southfield’s Roads Fixed
The latest news in the ongoing campaign to have Southfield’s roads repaired is that the dangerous speed humps at the junctions of Castle Street/Bracewell Street and Manor Street/Bracewell Street have now been completely replaced with brand-new tarmac structures instead of the old block paved ones. My work on this issue is by no means complete, and a good many highway issues are still to be resolved. Lancashire County Council are proving to be extremely helpful in respect of despatching inspectors to examine the defects and schedule the necessary repairs. I am still out and about looking for more defects which require attention, these will be photographed, noted and reported for repair in due course.
