About Me
My reasons for wishing to serve the community in Southfield are simple. I have lived in the area all of my life, I believe in putting something back into the community I live in, and this is why I seek to represent Southfield on Pendle Borough Council.
A little bit more information about me:
I am employed as a Senior Rail Consultant with one of the UK ’s leading Business Travel Management companies. My family is indelibly tied to the ward, my grandparents owned a newsagency at the corner of Bracewell Street and Fir Street during the 1950’s and into the 1960’s. My parents have lived in Bath Street for over forty years, and my whole immediate family live in the ward.
My interests inside politics encompass environmental protection, education, better public transport provision, improving our local road surfaces and ensuring people have access to the services they are entitled to. I am a governor at Marsden Heights Community College and am a Town Councillor representing Southfield on Nelson Town Council.
I have a number of interests outside politics, these include photography, travel and architecture.
My political philosophy is founded on taking a positive approach and being proactive rather than reactive to resolving problems. I firmly believe in encouraging the community to become involved in this approach, and in establishing a “can do” approach to making our part of Pendle a better place to live in.
